Oftentimes, CEO’s will look at an opportunity like acquiring a vendor and pivoting the company, think about it long and hard, and never pull the trigger. In this episode of CEO Corner, Francis Declercq of Information Mapping walks us through the process of going from largest distributor in Europe to acquiring the company and creating a growing and profitable organization.
Information Mapping products and services focus on the ever-increasing challenge of presenting data in a clear an efficient manner. They focus on training, education, and a product platform that helps the customer with the process of turning stale and confusing documents into well written, easy to follow, and well organized documents. The company is founded on a set of principles and core beliefs in the way that data and information needs to be presented and processed to be most effective in presentations.
For Francis, the strategy development was focused on building out a platform and education business that could scale and grow with partners and a strong support core organization. The key to any strategy is to find the right product mix that will drive the strongest basis for long term, recurring revenue. In the case of Information Mapping, that comes from creating a strong platform business that is supported with key education and training support. In addition, the education and training as well as awareness programs that the company runs around the need for well written documentation creates the demand that creates that “I need that service, where do I get it” phenomenon that every CEO is looking to capture.
In thinking about your business, focus on the key drivers – the key factors that will create that long term revenue base and ultimately that demand for your product.
